The Costa Cálida (warm coast) extends over about 250 kilometers of elongated white sandy beaches interspersed with steep rocks rising from the sea and sheltered coves. The interior is undulating and contains wooded valleys. The Costa Cálida runs from El Mojón near San Pedro del Pinatar to Águilas with the capital Murcia. This Costa has 2 different seas; the Mar Menor (little sea), the largest natural pool in the world and a true paradise for all kinds of water sports, and the Mediterranean. This Costa has been declared one of the healthiest areas in the world by the World Health Organization.
The Costa Cálida starts in the north at the town of El Mojón, a former fishing village with a beautiful sandy beach and is embedded in extensive reed beds. A stone's throw away are the towns of San Pedro del Pinatar and Lo Pagán which, together with the town of El Mojón, enclose the Natural Park Parque Regional de las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar. In Lo Pagán one can find the best medicinal open air mud baths recommended for all types of skin conditions and forms of rheumatism. The Mar Menor (Little Sea) is the shallow inland sea, with crystal clear waters of significant therapeutic value and miles of white sandy beaches. This inland sea is separated from the Mediterranean by the narrow 22 km spit of land called La Manga (an exclusive piece of paradise between 2 seas).
This region enjoys a very pleasant microclimate that ensures a mild temperature all year round. The villages are more authentic and less touristy. Many harbours, terraces and nice restaurants. Friendly and real Spanish where you can find the most delicious dishes.
Of course, all forms of water sports can be experienced here. A real paradise for those who love sand, water and sun.
The new Région de Murcia International Airport now makes this area very easily accessible and most places are only half an hour to 45 minutes drive.
Those who love peace, nature and authenticity will find it wonderful to stay here.
