The Costa Blanca South (Spanish for white coast) is found in southeastern Spain from Alicante to Pilar de la Horadada. Beautiful sandy beaches, low dunes and dry plains with the famous salt lakes in between with the typical pink flamengo's.
Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández International Airport is located exactly between the Costa Blanca North and South and only a 15-minute drive from the port city of Alicante. A pleasant city with a not too big center where everything can easily be done on foot. The many pedestrian streets with their many terraces and restaurants are the meeting point every day for aperitifs and socializing. Many unforgettable moments start here.
There are big differences between the Costa Blanca North and Costa Blanca South. Not only the landscape is different, the climate is also different and "the way of life" is not always comparable in both costa's.
The north is quieter, greener and more focused on nature and sports. The landscape is more mountainous. Beach life is of course lively and there are also wonderful restaurants and picturesque harbors. Important and popular places are Villajoyosa, Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Moraira and Denia. A popular region for cyclists!
The south is busier, flatter landscape, drier, more focused on shopping and entertainment. Great plains and the famous salt lakes with the pink flamengo's. An exciting beach life, large shopping centers, harbors, terraces in abundance and a wide choice of restaurants. The most famous places are certainly Torrevieja, Santa Pola and La Zenia.
The Costa Blanca is one of the 10 healthiest regions in the world. Here the average age is 93 years.
